Year 9 GCSE Options

What subjects will I study? 

Core Curriculum: 

All students in this group will be required to study: 

  • English Language 
  • English Literature 
  • Maths 
  • Science Double Award (Triple Science is available as an option) 
  • Ethics 
  • Core PE 

Optional Curriculum: 

Based on your child’s academic data, they will also be required to choose: 

  • Either Geography or History 
  • Two additional qualifications 

Optional Curriculum: 

Based on your child’s academic data, they will also be required to choose: 

  • Either Geography or History 
  • Two additional qualifications 
  • If your child wishes to complete the EBACC subjects, they must select French as one of these options 
  • Plus 2 reserve choices 

Please take the time to carefully read what each course entails.  Subject teachers are available to discuss these qualifications in more detail on Parent’s Evening on Wednesday 26th February 2025. 

To complete your child’s option choices, please use the link sent to you.  There will be tablets available at options evening to do this or a QR code to take away to get you to the form. 

Whilst we do everything that we can to ensure our students are enrolled on courses that will challenge and interest them, sometimes their exact option combinations may not be possible due to staffing or high demand for the subject. Therefore, students will select two reserve choices. 

The deadline for completing the options form is 12th March 2025.
