Performance

We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students who left us in 2022.  They achieved some of the best results the academy has ever received, including the best Maths and English results in our history.  The resilience they showed across their time with us, especially in light of Covid restrictions to education, is something we are incredibly proud of.

The progress figures for the cohort will be released later in the year, but we are pleased to report the following:

The academy’s Attainment 8 score was 50.21.  This makes us the best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent when considering how high the grades students achieved across all subjects they studied.

Our ‘Basics’ measures (those students achieving English and Mathematics) were extremely impressive:

  • The proportion of students achieving the Basics at grade 9-5 was 56.0%. This makes us the best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent.
  • The proportion of students achieving the Basics at grade 9-4 was 79.2%. This makes us the best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Government outlined accountability arrangements for 2020/21. Further information on what this means for the way school and college accountability operated for 2020/21 can be found here.

The Government announced that it would not publish any school or college-level educational performance data based on tests, assessments or exams for 2020.

In Year 11, the academy achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.48. We are extremely proud of how students have performed having achieved the highest Progress 8 score in Stoke-on-Trent and in the academy’s history.

League Tables for Stoke-on-Trent

The academy’s Attainment 8 score was 50.5.  This makes us the best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent when considering how high the grades students achieved across all subjects they studied.

Our ‘Basics’ measures (those students achieving English and Mathematics) was extremely impressive:

  • The proportion of students achieving the Basics at grade 9-5 (the new ‘strong pass’ or better) was 44.5%. This makes us the third best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent!
  • The proportion of students achieving the Basics at grade 9-4 (the new ‘standard pass’ or better) was 69.0%. This makes us the second-best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent!

The latest destinations figures published (2017) show that 95% of our former students left us to go on to further education, other education, sustained employment or apprenticeships.

The academy’s Attainment 8 score was 47.31.  This makes us the best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent when considering how high the grades students achieved across all subjects they studied.

Our ‘Basics’ measures (those students achieving English and Mathematics) was extremely impressive:

  • The proportion of students achieving the Basics at grade 9-5 (the new ‘strong pass’ or better) was 39.4%. This makes us the second best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent!
  • The proportion of students achieving the Basics at grade 9-4 (the new ‘standard pass’ or better) was 61.1%. This makes us the third best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent.

In Year 13, students studying A-Levels achieved an average grade of C- and are in line with national performance. All students who applied to university succeeded in obtaining places on their first choice of university. Courses being studied include English Literature, Religious Studies, History and Politics, Psychology and Sociology, and Chemical Biology at a range of universities including Keele, Chester and Leicester.

100% of our students completed their main study programme.

In Year 11, the academy achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.19 which represents a massive increase from last year’s score of 0.00. This makes us the second-best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent when considering the progress all students make from when they join us in Year 7 to when they leave us in Year 11.

The academy’s Attainment 8 score was 47.2.  This makes us the second-best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent when considering how high the grades students achieved across all subjects they studied.

Our ‘Basics’ measures (those students achieving English and Mathematics) was extremely impressive in light of the new reformed GCSEs that students sat this year:

  • The proportion of students achieving the basics at grade 9-5 (the new ‘strong pass’ or better) was 45.5%. This makes us the best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent!
  • The proportion of students achieving the basics at grade 9-4 (the new ‘standard pass’ or better) was 61.2%. This makes us the third best performing non-selective secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent.

In Year 13, students studying A-Levels achieved a value-added score of +0.14. This makes our sixth form the highest performing post-16 provider in Stoke-on-Trent for A-Level progress.

Students studying Level 3 BTECs achieved on average a grade of Distinction+.

100% of our students completed their main study programme.

  • The proportion of students achieving the ‘Basics’ (English and Maths) A*-C was 52%, which was in line with similar schools nationally (56%).
  • The academy’s Progress 8 score is 0.00.
  • The academy’s Attainment 8 score 49.71 is above the estimated score of 48.06.
  • The proportion of students in English achieving expected levels of progress in 2016 was 70%, which was above the national average (69%)
  • The proportion of students in English achieving more than expected levels of progress in 2016 was 36% which is above the national average of 30%
  • The proportion of A*-A grades achieved by our students rose from 5.6% of all entries to 16.5% of all entries.

Disadvantaged Students

  • The proportion of disadvantaged students achieving 5 A*-C including English and Mathematics in 2016 was 41% which was above the performance of disadvantaged students in similar schools nationally (38%).
  • The proportion of disadvantaged students making expected levels of progress in English in 2015 was 60%, which was higher than the national average for disadvantaged students.
  • The provisional Progress 8 score of disadvantaged students (+0.02) is above the national average (0.00).
