Some of our students recently had the opportunity to live and work on a farm for a week. Abbey Home Farm in Gloucestershire invited our students to help on the farm.
Whilst there, students got involved in milking cows, egg collecting, horse grooming, crop gathering, and helping to make milk, yoghurt, butter, and other dairy products. They then used these food products to cook meals together each evening.
The students stayed on the farm, along with some OSSMA staff, to gain farm life experience and essential life skills. These life skills link to our core values of Confidence, Resilience, Empathy, Enthusiasm, Challenge, and Kindness, and they all displayed each of these values at some point during the week. They all enjoyed the adventure, including the staff, and returned from the experience feeling more positive about themselves.
